Travel Consulting Fees
As an experienced professional travel advisor, I charge a consulting fee for all travel services I do, including pricing and destination information. My fees vary depend on type of service and customization of the itinerary. For someone looking for pricing options, my consulting fees are based on four quotes. Any further quotes are an additional fee. Please see an example of my fees below.
Why Do I Charge A Fee?
- The travel industry has changed over the years and travel advisors and customers need to evolve as well. Most travel plans, even basic hotel and air, take time to research and finalize, especially for a traveler who is uncertain of their destination, budget, or needs. This is especially relevant for clients who are looking at multiple destinations or who have customized itineraries that require additional time. In order to create a tailor-made travel experience, I focus on building a relationship with my clients to determine their exact wants, needs, hopes, and dreams. By charging a fee, I am able to focus on my clients, not the suppliers, and extend my commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
- With over 28+ years as a corporate, leisure, and group agent, I bring comprehensive knowledge and experience to every travel experience. My professional affiliation with Plaza Travel and Signature Travel Network allows me to offer my clients additional amenities above and beyond what they would receive by booking reservations on their own, often for the same or less than they would pay direct.
- While my goal is to always offer my clients the best travel plans for their budget, I am not a low-cost or budget agency and do not compete with the “big box warehouse stores” or online booking agencies. I am a luxury agency specializing in clients looking for an affordable or ultra-luxury trip.
I sometimes receive commission from a supplier for booking a particular product, such as a cruise, but it is usually a nominal fee for the time it takes to complete an itinerary. Most airlines no longer pay commission to travel agents and many hotels/tours no longer pay a competitive commission. Even pricing an itinerary for a potential client can take time, especially if a client is looking at several destinations, so charging a consulting fee allows me to focus on creating an incredible trip for my clients while still receiving compensation for my time. As with other professions, I expect to be paid for the work I do, so it is fair to ask for compensation and I appreciate those who value my time and expertise.
My superpower is incredible customer service while saving my clients time, money, and stress. My clients agree!
